Construction of World Championship obstacles progresses well

The construction of the first marathon obstacles of the World Championship four-in-hand driving is progressing well. Main sponsor GMB, estate owner Frans van Verschuer and course designers Arjan Brink and Johan Jacobs have been working hard the past months to finish the main ground works before the winter. Especially the GMB water obstacle with small dikes, seven entry places and isles will be a sure attraction. From the high dike, which will function as stand for the spectators next year, one can already image the horse teams galloping through the water. Also the hills of the Rabo obstacle, at the place where the stadium will be built next year, look professional. The grass seeds are planted and the main arena looks wonderful. The estate moat is prepared so the horse teams can drive through there as well.

FEI Technical Delegate enthusiastic about progress World Championship

FEI Technical Delegate Richard James paid a visit to the World Championship site in Beesd at the end of October. The British official was shown around by course designers Arjan Brink and Johan Jacobs and estate owner Frans van Verschuer. James was very impressed with the solid and enthusiastic Organising Committee who is working hard to guarantee the success of the event. The 66-year old official was especially impressed by the charm and radiation of the family estate and the ground works that has been done for the obstacles. “There is still a lot of work to be done, but I am very confident that it will be ready in time. Most World Championship organisers are less prepared 10 months before the event,” commented James. The Technical Delegate is the link between the OC and the competitors. The TD is not only responsible that the event is run according to the rules, but also sees to the technical matters like water supplies in the stable area and the quality of the marathon sections.
