[+] GIO Award for Pezy!
|
The fitness product ‘BeatBelly’ is crowned with the prestigious GIO Award!
The BeatBelly is a fitness tool for training stomach and core muscles in an easy way, following the natural movements of the body from side to side. This makes the product intuitive and simple to use. The GIO (Goed Industrieel Ontwerp) Award 2009 is the only prize in originating from the Netherlands for industrial design projects. To receive the award a design must be more than aesthetically inspiring, it must fuse functionality, innovativeness, originality, and intelligent material choice.

The GIO awards will be handed out on the 10th of December in a ceremony in Rotterdam.
The GIO awards are equivalent to the American Idea Award the German Red Dot and IF awards. The yearly awards are organized by Designlink and is a much sought after award for design professionals and product developers.

[+] Big Bang - the DDW edition
|
On October 20th the Big Bang, an event on ‘sustainable design and innovation with polymers’, inspired 95 designers and industry leaders. This new and extended edition of the Big Bang was one of our activities at the Dutch Design Week. It was initiated by Pezy and organized together with DPI Value Centre and Dusc, in cooperation with the ICSE.
The morning program offered informative lectures, followed by a lively panel discussion. In the afternoon, the workshop program challenged participants to match “sustainable materials” with “recognized added value” for the user. This resulted in innovative and sustainable product ideas. Altogether, a day filled with new insights, interesting meetings, fresh ideas, and a tangible drive to do good things. You find an impression of this event on www.pezy.com/ddw. [+] Philips introduces the Senseo Quadrante
|
Senseo is somewhat of an institution in the Netherlands when it comes to coffee. Eight years
after launching the first ever Senseo coffee maker, Philips is launching a new square design:
the Senseo Quadrante. The new coffee machine is based on the existing minimalist design trend but stays true to its signature ease of use, and the dependable Douwe Egberts
coffee pads.
Pezy is proud to contribute to the development of the Senseo Quadrante. Pezy was co-responsible for different project phases such as product architecture, 3D part design, trial tooling, FEM analysis, test & verification, mold flow analysis, mold check & trial.

[+] Pezy collaborates with the University of Groningen
|
The University of Groningen recently asked Pezy to provide their expertise in developing their student’s projects in the course 'Advanced Product & Service Development', as part of the master program of the faculty Economics & Business.
Focused on developing products and services in the field of Consumer Lifestyle, students made use of Senior project manager Rogier Braak’s (r.braak@pezy.com) guest lecture on the role of prototyping during design and development of new products. In a follow up hands on session, students had the opportunity to partner up with Pezy’s industrial designers to visualize and examine their concepts. In two afternoons the concepts were discussed and visualized by a team of designers based on close interaction with students. The professional visuals were then used by the students in subsequent presentations to clients to highlight the strengths of the various concepts.

A team from Flinc followed a workshop at Pezy on product innovation and development. Flinc helps starters to get their concepts off the starting blocks and into the market faster by securing starters capital, giving advice and offering access to a large network.

Sunday 11 October Pezy took part in the 4 Mile of Groningen! A massive
showing of 20 Pezyans managed the 6437 meter course with success
during the Maandag@bedrijvenloop.
